Latest interview on WVOX!  What makes this one interesting was that I had to tie in vampires, mythology and today's American culture all together.

I think it went well, but you be the judge.

Before we get to that though, here’s a confession:  while I was talking, the radio host took a photo of me, and then sent it around in an email announcing the podcast.  But it was one of those “action shots” where I look like I was kicked in the groin.  So asked to have that picture removed and replaced with the one that you'll see on the site when you link on over to it.

Anyway, here’s the link:

The Advocates –WVOX 1460
Wednesdays at 12 Noon
Hosted by Richard J. Garfunkel

Dr. Vivian Diller, co-author with Jill Muir-Sukenick, of Face It: What Women Really Feels as their Looks Change, will visit The Advocates on March 31, 2010. Andrew Valentine, author of Bitter Things visited The Advocates on March 24, 2010 and discussed his book Bitter Things and the “Power of Myth.”.

Archived shows include: Adam Cohen of the NY Times, discussing Nothing to Fear, FDR’s Inner Circle, Mr. Terry Golway, author of Together We Cannot Fail, FDR, the American Presidency and the Years of Crisis was on The Advocates. Dr. John F, Loase, the author of The Sigfluence Generation, Our Young people’s Potential to transform America. John Loase talks about how his term, “sigfluence is widely neglected, but a fundamental need.” The question facing all of us is how it can be implemented in American life to bring us all a better future.

Mr. Tim Brooks, the co- author of The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows, 1946-Present, was a guest of The Advocates on December 23rd and the week before, I had the pleasure of hosting Amy Bach, the author of Ordinary Injustice, along with my special guest panelist Michael Shapiro, of Carter, Ledyard and Milburn, talking about the sorry state of our court system. Her book reflects her eight year investigation of the court system’s ongoing struggle with under funding, show trials, plea-bargaining, zealous prosecution, and inadequate defense, which has made a mockery of the US Constitution. Ms. Bach’s book is a critical eye-opener for all who believe in “equal justice under the law.”  Read below Doris Kearns’ review!

“This is a magnificent work, a crusading call for reform in the tradition of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring or Ralph Nader’s Unsafe at Any Speed…This groundbreaking book deserves widespread attention.”
--Doris Kearns Goodwin, author of Team of Rivals

This past November 25th, Gail Collins, of the NY Times, joined the Advocates and she talked about her critically acclaimed best seller, When Everything Changed, the Amazing Journey of American Women

Ms. Gail Collins, NY Times Columnist                        Tim Brooks                                   Bruce Fabricant and Richard J. Garfunkel

Also in NovemberI interviewed Barry Machado, a former professor at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and a Fellow with the George C. Marshall Foundation http://www.marshallfoundation.org/library/TheMarshallPapers.htm on The Advocates.  He is the author of In Search of a Usable Path: The Marshall Plan & Post War Reconstruction Today. His program is now online.

Below are the books that have been featured on The Advocates. Recently I have hosted Professor Michael Curtis from Rutgers, Professor Victor Cahn from Skidmore College, The March of Dimes, Milton Hoffman of the Gannet Newspapers, Michael Shapiro of Carter, Ledyard, Mr. Burt Solomon and Professor Robert F. This past July 1st I had Mr. Don Blum, one of the last survivors of the USS Indianapolis sinking in July of 1945, as a guest. He talked about his life, his experiences as an Ensign and his ordeal in the shark-infested waters of the Pacific. Last year I hosted authors Nick Taylor, Bob Schlesinger, and Harry Goldsmith, who were featured at the 2008, Roosevelt Reading Festival, Also I have had the honor and pleasure of interviewing Jonathan Alter, William vanden Heuval, Cynthia Koch, and former FERI president Chris Breiseth on the subject of FDR.
