Valentine's Day Blog

The other day, I was talking about Bitter Things to the folks behind the counter at my gym. I have to admit there are times when I bore myself to tears because all I’m able to really talk about these days is my book. And what’s worse is, I’m really excited to talk about my book! I’m bored by the fact that I’m excited!

Anyway, I had handed out one of my bookmarks to one of the fellows behind the counter, George Pacheco. On the back of the bookmark is the quote from Deborah LeBlanc that appears on the home page of this website:

"Andrew Valentine's Bitter Things delivers a hard punch to the senses. It's provocative, erotic, and filled with unforgettable characters that make you eager for more. Within this story, Valentine brings new meaning to the word 'Vampire,' ripping it from the pages of folkloric fantasy and shoving it into the realm of horrific plausibility. I defy anyone to put this novel down after the first two pages--it simply can't be done!"

George shared the bookmark with his mother Lisa, who apparently loves to read good fiction, because she’s in the middle of Water Witch by Deborah.

When I saw George next at the gym, he asked me if Deborah and I were married. To each other. The quote on the back of the bookmark led to some speculation on their part.

I was embarrassed by the huge grin that passed over my face. Married to Deborah LeBlanc??? If only for just a few hours… In my mind, all the possibilities bubbled forward in all their X-rated glory.

I had to admit that, much to my dismay, Deborah was not my wife – but later I emailed her to let her know. She told me,

“When they asked if we were married -- to each other -- the proper response from you should have probably have been, "No, thank God!" lol”

In spite of being not-married to Deborah, George ordered my book on Amazon and told me he’d bring it in for me to sign once he received it, which I did a few days later.

This, of course, was tops in my book -- the next best thing to being married to Deborah LeBlanc.
